Oi, Ghidorah!

While I wanted to record another podcast at the beginning of the week, we've had some real turbulence in my family and I've been a little pre-occupied searching through shit to even lift the camera. Couldn't finish the review I started working on. Just been going to work and coming home to my trailer and just being puzzled at how all of this shit had happened.

I did manage to buy a Vivitar DVR785HD. This is a small little bastard. You could easily fit this little bastard in your pocket and still have room to fit your wallet in once you take it out of the underwater/protective casing which comes with it. I managed to pick it up at Target for a good $25. Only problem is that now I have to get a microSD card for it. Since it's that small, I can't put my regular SDHC card in it. After I saw this little camera, I knew I had to get it for a plot device in the next movie I am going to be shooting in the following months.

I got this sweet piece of heaven from eBay, a Super 8mm digest reel of Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. I put a DVD case beside it to show scale. The film came in a giant box, filled with crumbled newspapers. I actually pulled it out and set it aside while I was looking for what was inside the package. I felt dumb after finding it. I've watched through it on my Super 8mm editing bay. It's in B&W and it actually contains the film's THE END title card which has been missing on all home video releases of the film.

I'll have a podcast ready in a week or so. What's on the schedule for today, showing my movie review site some lovin'. I think I might go in and start italicizing the movie titles since this was all done throughout the years.

Chinese Hercules Has Arrived! And Filming in June.

After waiting since winning the auction on Easter, I received my 16mm film print of Chinese Hercules! Since this print is thirty-nine years old, it has it's wear and it shows as the opening credits are gone as well as the first few moments of the protagonist training before his fiancee walks in. There's even a few splices and some dirt on the print that needs cleaned off.

The second reel about gave me a damn heart attack as there's no leader film to protect the film. The film is openly exposed and on top of that, they taped the film down and the tape is on actual celluloid. This needs to be fixed. However, leader film gets pricey for just 1,000 ft of it. Plus, I'll need splicing tape to fix it up. All this to preserve a movie.

It gave me vivid flashbacks of when I showed my Super 8mm film print of Nosferatu to Abby and the film snapped while we were on the third reel and I had to perform an operation on that. That was quite scary. Luckily, the editing bay I have had a compartment for both 8mm and Super 8mm splicing tape.

I picked up Django Unchained at Target. It's got a nice Steelbook case to it. I look forward to seeing it again. I remember seeing it for the second time, the day right after I premiered Traumatic Possession 3D: The Tape. And speaking of filmmaking, I'll be cutting a promo intro for the new website. I'm gearing up to film in June. July, if we can fit it, Ghosts of Mansfield. Then, in August, Traumatic Possession 3D: Apocalypse!

Final note, I know you're reading this. Listen, because good old Johnny has some words to say:

Eighth Anniversary. Where Does the Time Go?

Well, how did I spend my eighth anniversary? Sick as a dog! I had some spaghetti to eat for lunch and it decided to play with my stomach all day and then at two in the freakin' morning, I ended up throwing up. On top of other things, I have been having encoding problems with Double Feature Theater Vol 2. First time, I accidentally forgot to check off that it needs to play next title after first title ends. First title is the FBI warning since footage from Traumatic Possession is shown on the DVDs. I wouldn't put an FBI warning on the disc if I just used the public domain films.

Then, when I did the encoding a second time, I forgot to add the chapter marks on the movie. I was like; "Shit!" And then, I decided to do the encoding in DVDAuthorGUI for the third time and the chapters were all over the place and I was like; "Fuck me!" So, I'm going to do the encoding again this week. I have Double Feature Theater Vol 3 encoding right now in Sony Vegas and it will probably be done tonight. I'm still working on the original concept for Double Feature Theater Vol 2. But, I felt that I wasn't ready for this one yet, so, I devised another double feature.

I started working on the poster art for the planned Orlando Eastwood Film Festival. Right now, it's just a work in progress and I didn't have poster art at the time for Chinese Hercules when I did it. Also, date and price and time are not finalized as I do not have everything booked. The plan is to travel the film prints and the digital screenings across the country, like the good old days where filmmakers took their films on the road. The first show will be in Ohio and who knows where I will have the second show.

I also plan on mixing it up and possibly getting other indie filmmakers involved and screening their works if I can cut them a deal on screening it. I'm still waiting on Chinese Hercules, the seller is finally shipping the item as he had a question about my address and I had to clear it up and wait a week longer. But, hey, I have Chinese Hercules in it's original aspect ratio. As far as I know, none of the DVD copies are like that. Plus, I have the film on beautiful celluloid!

Also, I did a google search and stumbled across a Czech, Romanian, and Spanish websites talking about Traumatic Possession 3D: The Tape. I'm pretty proud that it's getting some international chatter. I'm going to be getting some work done on getting the subtitle tracks created for the film. Especially once I get the director's cut finished.
