Spoilers... I Am Iron Man. Iron Man 3D!

Do not read any further. You have been warned!

I caught the 9:15 pm showing of Iron Man 3D last night and enjoyed it. However, how Marvel has allowed the people behind the Iron Man series handle villains is an out right joke. I thought how Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo hybrid was handled in Iron Man 2 was pretty bad, but Iron Man 3D takes the cake. We finally have the Mandarin, a bad ass kung fu master who plans on destroying the planet...oh, wait... he's a coked out British actor. The trailers totally mislead us on all of it. This was supposed to be the Mandarin we deserved and this was instead the Mandarin we got. Such a damn shame if you ask me.

I honestly liked that the villain wasn't suit-based like how Stane and Vanko were in the previous installments. Problem is, we're thrown into a whole different direction once we realize that the "real" Mandarin is Aldrich Killian, played by Guy Pearce. The biggest bad ass kung fu villain, which is Stark's arch-nemesis is brought down to this? A nerd who wanted Stark to buy into his science? Bullshit.

War Machine being re-branded as the Iron Patriot was also a lame attempt at using another name of a comic character. Iron Patriot in the comics is really Norman Osborne from Spider-Man, but, Disney can't use Norman now can they?

I did like how Tony handled situations. He is all on his own pretty much throughout the film. One of the early production concept arts shows Stark with one suit glove on and another suit leg on and fighting bad guys. That was one of the best action scenes as he's flying around towards the end of the film. With his updates on the Mark suits, he's now able to be out of the suits and operate it from the ground is pretty sweet. I really dug that.

Oh, yeah...one last thing...

I AM IRON MAN!
